Compliance

triStack AlgoTrader is hosting infrastructure, not an investment adviser and not a signal provider.

This page states plainly what we do and what we do not do. Where a regulatory question is settled, it is answered here. Where it is not, the gap is printed rather than filled with something reassuring.

What we are

Managed self-hosting for algorithms you write yourself

We provision and operate an instance for one customer: their own database, their own dedicated egress address, their own engine. They connect their own broker account and run their own code on it. That is the entire product.

An instance that belongs to one customer

Your own database on your own volume, your own engine processes, and a dedicated static egress address reserved to you. There is no shared tenant table, because there is no shared application: another customer's instance has no route to your data.

A connection to your own broker

You register your own developer application at your own broker and hold your own API key. The software ships adapters for 31 brokers, and the credentials for whichever you use live on your instance. Revoke them at the broker and everything stops immediately, including our ability to help.

Algorithms you wrote, executed literally

You write the strategies, you schedule them, you set every limit, and you start and stop them. We supply no trading logic, review none of yours, and have no switch that places an order in your account.

Money that never leaves your broker

Funds and holdings stay in an account in your name with your own broker for the entire time you use the service. We hold no client funds and no securities at any point, and we have no instruction rights over your account.

The scope is set by your broker rather than by us. The engine addresses NSE, BSE, NFO, BFO, CDS, BCD, MCX and NCDEX, covering equity, futures and options, currency and commodities. What you can actually trade is set by your own broker's API and your own entitlements with them, not by us.

The mechanics are documented in full on how it works and security. Both pages describe the same service this page describes.

What triStack AlgoTrader is not

These statements are the authoritative version of our position. They are printed here word for word, they are not summarised anywhere on this site, and every other page is written to stay consistent with them.

  • Tristack Technologies LLP is not registered with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) in any capacity: not as an Investment Adviser, not as a Research Analyst, not as a Portfolio Manager, and not as a stock broker. It does not hold, and does not claim, any SEBI registration.

  • triStack AlgoTrader does not give investment advice, tips, calls, signals, buy or sell recommendations, or any opinion on any security. Nothing on this website or in the software is a recommendation to trade.

  • triStack AlgoTrader does not sell strategies and does not publish any. Every algorithm that runs on your instance is one you wrote or chose to run, and you can read, change or delete it at any time.

  • triStack AlgoTrader never holds, receives or handles your funds or securities. Money and holdings stay with your own SEBI-registered broker throughout, in an account in your name that you opened.

  • triStack AlgoTrader does not manage your account and does not exercise discretion over it. The software executes only the instructions your own code and your own configuration produce.

  • triStack AlgoTrader does not offer, promise or imply any profit, assured return or performance outcome, and does not share in your profits or losses.

  • You choose your broker, you write your strategies, you set your own limits, and you remain solely responsible for every order placed in your account and for every consequence of it.

If any claim made anywhere by triStack AlgoTrader appears to conflict with the list above, the list above governs.

Registration

No SEBI registration is held, and none is claimed

Registration attaches to specific regulated activities and is granted for those activities. The table below names the four regimes a reader will want addressed, and states, as a matter of fact, what the service does in relation to each.

Tristack Technologies LLP is not registered with the Securities and Exchange Board of India in any capacity. It does not hold, and does not claim, any SEBI registration, and no registration number is published anywhere on this site because there is none to publish.

We take no role that would involve forming a view on a security. We take no custody of funds or securities, exercise no discretion over any account, share in no outcome, and charge a fee for infrastructure that does not vary with how you trade or how your trading goes.

Investment AdviserSEBI (Investment Advisers) Regulations, 2013Persons who advise others on buying, selling or dealing in securities, for consideration. Not this activityWe express no opinion on any security and tell nobody what to trade. Portfolio ManagerSEBI (Portfolio Managers) Regulations, 2020Persons who manage or administer another person's funds or portfolio of securities. Not this activityWe take no custody and exercise no discretion. Every order originates from code the customer wrote and configuration the customer set, in an account the customer opened.
Stock BrokerSEBI (Stock Brokers) Regulations, 1992Exchange members who execute and settle trades on behalf of clients. Not this activityYour own broker executes and settles every order. The software places orders into your own broker session, over your broker's own published API, using credentials issued to you.

What this table is, and what it is not

The third column states facts about the service. It does not state a legal conclusion that no registration requirement can attach to us, because that is a question of law and we are not the right people to answer it about ourselves. Whether a requirement attaches to any particular activity, ours or yours, depends on the facts of that activity and on advice taken on it. The next section is the part of that question we have deliberately left open.

We have no plan to offer investment advice, research recommendations, signals or discretionary account management. If we ever decided to, we would obtain the relevant registration first, publish the registration number on this page, and only then offer it. Until this page says otherwise, we hold no registration and offer no such service.

The framework for retail algorithmic trading, and why this page does not conclude on it

SEBI issued a framework in February 2025 addressing algorithmic trading by retail investors through broker APIs. It is the one regulatory question about this product that we are not going to answer ourselves, and printing the gap is more useful to you than filling it.

Pending legal review, last reviewed 23 August 2026

Our position on the February 2025 retail algorithmic trading framework has not been settled by counsel, and no position is stated here.

The framework concerns retail investors placing algorithmic orders through broker APIs, the responsibilities of the stock brokers who provide that access, and the treatment of persons who supply algorithms or algorithmic-trading facilities to retail investors, including how such algorithms are identified to the exchanges. The detail matters, it is being implemented by exchanges and brokers on their own timelines, and a marketing page is the wrong place to paraphrase it.

We are not going to tell you it does not apply to us, and we are not going to tell you it does. Either statement would be a legal opinion given by the party with the strongest interest in the answer. The operator has to take advice, and until that advice is in, this box is what this page says on the subject.

When counsel has advised, this box is replaced by the stated position, dated, and any change it requires of the product is made before the position is published. Ask where it stands at [email protected].

The facts that bear on it

These are stated so that you, or your own adviser, can apply the framework to them. They are facts about how the product works, not arguments about how it should be classified.

  • We supply no algorithm. Every strategy running on an instance was written or chosen by the customer, and we do not review, test or approve any of it.
  • We supply infrastructure: a host, an isolated database, engine processes and a dedicated egress address. The customer operates the software on it.
  • Orders reach the exchange through the customer's own broker, over that broker's own API, using API credentials the customer registered in their own name.
  • The source address is registered by the customer at their own broker, against their own developer application. We allocate the address; the registration is theirs.
  • Our fee is for infrastructure. It does not vary with volume, frequency or outcome, and we take no share of profits or losses.
  • We hold no funds or securities and have no instruction rights over any broker account.

What you should do in the meantime

Ask your broker. Obligations under this framework land on brokers and on the people using their APIs, and your broker will tell you what they currently require of an account that places automated orders: registration or tagging of an algorithm, order-rate limits, a static IP registration, or a declaration. Those requirements are live today and are yours to meet.

Take your own advice. If you trade at size, run algorithms for anyone other than yourself, or charge for any part of what you do, get an opinion in your own name. Nothing on this site is a substitute for one, and using triStack AlgoTrader confers no authorisation on you and is not evidence of any.

Expect this to move. If a change requires us to alter, restrict or withdraw a feature, we will do it and tell you why. If it requires something of you, we will tell you that too, as early as we can.

Broker requirements

The dedicated address, and why every instance gets its own

Your broker will only accept API orders from an address you have registered with them.

Indian brokers require API order traffic to arrive from a static IP address registered on your own developer app, following SEBI's framework for retail algorithmic trading. That is why every instance gets a dedicated egress address rather than sharing one: a shared address would mean whitelisting infrastructure other customers also trade from, and it would break the moment it changed. You register the address we allocate you in your own broker's console, and the registration is yours.

This is stated as what brokers require, not as a legal opinion. Which operations a broker checks the source address on, and from when, is that broker’s own rule. Which operations a broker checks the address on, and from when, is the broker's own rule and can change without notice. Confirm the current position with your broker before you rely on it, and tell us if they need something different: reallocating an address is routine.

Checked 23 August 2026. This date moves when the paragraph is checked again, not when the page around it is edited.

One address, one broker account, one customer

A shared address would mean whitelisting infrastructure that other customers also trade from, and it would break the moment it changed. Yours is reserved to you, and the registration at your broker is yours.

Your obligations

What you are responsible for

We operate the infrastructure; you decide and you trade. The obligations below sit with you, and there is nothing we can do to discharge them on your behalf.

Read this one twice

If you place orders in accounts that belong to other people, operate pooled money, sell or distribute the signals your strategies generate, or charge anyone for any of it, that activity may itself require SEBI registration or another licence in your own name. Obtaining it is your obligation and yours alone. Using triStack AlgoTrader confers no authorisation on you, is not evidence of any authorisation, and can never be relied on as a substitute for one. We do not check whether you hold one, and we are not the party a regulator will ask.

Own or be authorised to operate every account

Each broker account you connect must be yours, or one you are lawfully entitled to operate. Connecting an account you have no authority over breaches our Terms and, in all likelihood, your broker agreement as well.

Your algorithms are yours to justify

Whether a strategy is sound, whether it is appropriate for the instrument, and whether it needs to be disclosed, tagged or approved anywhere are questions for you. We do not review strategies and cannot answer them on your behalf.

Comply with your broker agreement

Broker API terms govern automated order placement, session handling, rate limits and IP registration. Read them. Where what you want to do conflicts with your broker's terms, the broker's terms win and we will not work around them.

Comply with the exchange and SEBI rules that apply to you

Position limits, margin obligations, ban-period restrictions, disclosure requirements and any obligation attaching to the algorithms you run attach to your account and your PAN. Automating your order entry exempts you from none of them.

Your own tax and reporting

Every order your instance places is a trade in your own account and appears in your own contract notes, ledger and profit-and-loss statement. Computing, paying and reporting the tax on it is yours to do.

Every order placed is yours

You wrote the code, you set the limits and you carry the outcome. Trading in securities carries a substantial risk of loss, including loss beyond your initial capital in leveraged segments.

The failure modes worth understanding before you connect a live account are set out in the risk disclosure. The binding version of these obligations is in the Terms of Service.

Intermediary obligations

Grievances, data and the IT Rules

triStack AlgoTrader is an intermediary under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code Rules, 2021. Those rules require us to publish a Grievance Officer, so here are the details.

Write to the Grievance Officer about anything you believe is wrong with the service, the content of this website or the handling of your data. We acknowledge every complaint within 24 hours and work to resolve it within 15 days, which is what the rules require of us.

For personal data specifically, our obligations under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, what is collected, where it lives, when we access your instance, how long anything is kept and how you exercise your rights are set out in the Privacy Policy. Your broker credentials are held on your own instance, encrypted at rest, and are never written to application logs; the engineering behind that is on the security page.

For anything that is not a grievance, ordinary support runs Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM IST, at [email protected]. That is a desk staffed inside those hours rather than around the clock, and it is not a statement about when your instance is running. Legal correspondence goes to [email protected], or use the contact form.
